Terms of Service

1. What this service is

Free College Essay Grader provides an AI-assisted review of college application essays. You paste a draft and receive a score, six rubric scores, quoted feedback and revision guidance.

The service is not affiliated with Common App, any university, or any admissions office. It does not provide admissions advice, predict admission, or represent an official evaluation. Scores come from our own writing rubric.

2. No guarantee of admission or outcome

A score is feedback on writing quality. It is not an admissions rating, a ranking against other applicants, or a prediction. Admissions decisions depend on many factors outside this product. We make no guarantee about admission, scholarships, or any application outcome.

3. Your essay and your responsibility

You keep ownership of the essay you submit. You grant us a limited license to process the text for the purpose of generating your review and, if you save it, storing the report in your account.

You are responsible for the final essay you submit to a college. The review is a tool for revision. It does not replace your judgment, a teacher, a counselor, or the school's own instructions. You must not submit generated text as your own work where a school's rules prohibit it.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Submit another person's essay without their permission.
• Use the service to harass, defame, or expose personal information about someone else.
• Attempt to extract the underlying model, bypass rate limits, or interfere with the service.
• Use the service for unlawful purposes or in violation of a school's academic integrity policy.
• Resell access or share an account's credits with others.

We may suspend or terminate access for abuse.

5. Accounts

You are responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials secure. You must provide accurate account information. We may suspend accounts that we reasonably believe are compromised or used for abuse.

6. Reviews and credits

A free review is available without an account, subject to reasonable rate limits designed to prevent abuse. A full review is unlocked with credits purchased on the pricing page.

• Credits are purchased as one-time payments. They are not a subscription and do not renew automatically.
• One credit unlocks the full report for one essay review.
• Credits are valid for 12 months from purchase.
• Credits are not transferable and have no cash value.
• If a review fails to generate, the credit is not consumed.

7. Payments and refunds

Payments are processed by Stripe. Prices are shown in US dollars before checkout. Taxes may apply.

Refunds are governed by our Refund Policy. Contact hello@freecollegeessaygrader.org with your order number for any payment issue.

8. AI limitations

AI reviews can be wrong, inconsistent, or incomplete. The model may miss context, misread a sentence, or score a revision differently from the previous run. We validate that quoted evidence appears in your essay, but we cannot guarantee that every observation is correct. Use the report as one input among several.

9. Intellectual property

The site, its rubric, its report design and its software are owned by us or our licensors. You may not copy, resell, or reverse engineer the service except as permitted by law. Feedback you send us may be used to improve the product without obligation.

10. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

The service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for lost opportunities, lost admission outcomes, or lost data, except where the law does not allow that limitation.

Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability for a claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

11. Changes and termination

We may change features, pricing, or these terms. Material changes will be announced on the site. You may stop using the service at any time. We may suspend the service or an account for abuse, legal reasons, or extended outages.
